2012 was a busy but thoroughly enjoyable year for us. We kept ourselves busy by introducing a few new events into our annual calendar. One of the aforementioned events was the infamous ‘Who’s Your Paddy Summer Party’. The WYP Summer Party took place on a scorching Saturday evening in May 2012, in a hidden gem of a venue in the City. The guest list was made up of mainly Irish City workers and young professionals, but in true Irish fashion everyone managed to leave their work woes behind them and let their hair down for a great party!

The Hibernian Hero Award was another event that was introduced in 2012. The HHA event was designed to highlight some of the amazing people who work at the forefront of some of the organisations we support via our grant system. The award event was hosted by the IYF Trustee and world renowned chef, Richard Corrigan, in his Bentley’s Oyster Bar and Grill Restaurant. The night was a huge success, not just by the money that was raised but also because everyone had the time of their lives but mainly because the nominees and their projects got the recognition they so truly deserve. And the winner of the first ever Hibernian Hero Award? Maireád Uí Ghallchóir from Conradh na Gaeilge Glaschú.

We are thrilled to report that the brand new IYF ‘Who’s Your Paddy’ Event in May was a huge success. The event was a complete sell out and over £32k was raised in total. The feedback from the night was fantastic and everyone that came certainly seemed to let their hair down and enjoy themselves immensely! Watch this space for details on next years WYP event..

There are two more exciting events being introduced to the IYF calendar this year; one is a Dublin leg of our ‘Chips for Charity’ Poker night which is to take place in September, and the other event is a very special awards ceremony and media profiles that will highlight a number of individuals who work in various projects supported by the IYF. More info on both events to follow soon!

“Easter came early for this group of chocolate-loving children. Courtesy of the Irish Post and Celtic Chocolates, a sea of Easter eggs was delivered to St John Bosco Youth Club in East London just in time for the holidays. The club, organised by Sister Lawrence from the Convent of Mercy in Tower Hamlets, runs weekly Irish dance and sporting activities for young people between the ages of five and 11 living in the area. The club is just one of many projects supported by the Irish Youth Foundation….”

IYF has supported St John Bosco Youth Club since 1998.

In 2009 IYF gave St John Bosco Youth Club a special award for Quality in 2009 for the substantial and sustained support it has offered to young Irish people in an area of high deprivation over many years.
