About Us

The Irish Youth Foundation (UK) is a non-profit organization founded in 1989 by a small group of Irish men and women who were concerned about the consequences of heavy and sustained emigration from Ireland to Britain.

In the decade of the 1980′s, tens of thousands of young Irish people came to Britain to seek a better future, but many of them were unprepared for life in a different culture and environment.

In 2005 the Lawlor Foundation, having similar objectives, brought its assets to IYF thus benefiting both charities and offering increased future stability to IYF.

Recent reports have shown the most significant increase, since the 80′s, of young Irish migrants fleeing personal difficult situations in Ireland, and second generation Irish, seeking assistance in the UK.
